In February 2011, the Ministry of Health in collaboration and funding from Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) of UK organized a workshop on mental health. Damrivi submitted two abstracts to the workshop and both were accepted. One paper was titled “Effectiveness of culturally appropriate psychological interventions to cope with stressful situations in humanitarian emergencies: the Tsunami experience” by Professor Asanga Tilakaratne and Dr. Yuki Sirimane, our Chairman and a Trustee. The other paper was titled “Impact of a live TV counselling programme on utilization of counselling services in a community service setting” by Dr. Yuki Sirimane and Ms. Malathi Weerasooriya, one of our trustees and the Director Operations. Both papers were accepted by the organizers, the first as an oral presentation and the latter as a poster presentation. The abstracts of both papers will be published by VSO and the Ministry of Health.
