Counseling Cancer Patients
Damrivi has developed a unique counseling module to counsel Cancer patients integrating Western Counselling theories and therapies and Buddhist Insights and therapies. The module was developed having tested and fined tuned it for over 5 months with the in-house patients of the Cancer Hospital, Maharagama. Currently group counseling is carried out by Damrivi on a weekly basis at the Cancer Hospital of Maharagama. It has also published a book 'Counseling Cancer Patients - A Buddhist Way' in Sinhala and English language to share their first hand experience in counseling patients in the Cancer Hospital, Maharagama. The book is available for sale at Damrivi for a nominal fee of Rs. 150.00
At present counseling based on this module seems to be helping the majority of the distressed patients who attend the sessions irrespective of class creed or race. Often there are requests to visit the ward to help out their friends in the ward who are unable to walk up to the counseling sessions.

I personally witnessed the pain...
For the last 14 yrs years I served the Cancer Hospital as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist. I personally witnessed the pain and suffering of our beloved mothers and daughters. Though the hospital was able to help them to relieve them from their physical pain, every single day I thought to myself that some thing has to be done to mitigate their mental pain. When I was appointed as the Director of the hospital 2 yrs ago I thought some programme has to be developed for this purpose. It is at this point that Damrivi Foundation came forward wholeheartedly to develop a Counslling Programme with Buddhist insights. Ever since then they have developed a programme and counsel patients in the hospital very successfully and with utmost responsibility . My heartfelt gratitude to them for this meritorious deed.
