In 2010, Damrivi in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education of the Government of Sri Lanka developed a two 2 year on-line Diploma Course in Buddhists Studies and a Diploma Course in English language through Buddhism.

The courses are the first on-line courses of its kind developed in distant learning mode on the network of the Distant Education Modernization Project ( DEMP) of the Ministry of Higher Education. The programme content are presented as theory, on-line interactive presentations using multimedia and other innovative methods, group/individual discussions, tutorials, with a reliable learner support and on-going learner assessment system. The courses have been developed by a group of renowned Buddhist academics and linguists under the direction of Damrivi’s Chairman, Prof. Asanga Tilakarane.

The courses are designed for busy adults, professionals, social workers, Buddhist monks and nuns, and clergy of other religions who are desirous of learning Buddhist teachings systematically and with technical accuracy and offers the opportunity to follow the courses from the comfort of their homes, places of work, temples and other places of religious work.
